Birding/Kayaking Event June 7th
Friends of the Manitowoc River Watershed and Friends of Collins Marsh welcome the public to a
day of activities celebrating life at the marsh. Events take place at Collins Marsh & Nature Center, 20021 County Road JJ, Reedsville, WI 54230

10:00-11:00: A presentation, “Birds of Collins Marsh” by Dr. Medhavi Ambardar, Chief Scientist at the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory. She has studied bird behavior, reproduction, and physiology for over a decade, focusing primarily on parental care in songbirds.
Collins Marsh is home to both migratory and resident birds. During summertime, the marsh comes alive with breeding birds as they search for mates and breeding sites and find food to feed their offspring.
Come learn about the birds of Collins Marsh – and how some of them raise their young.
Beginning at 11:00 and through the afternoon: Paddling on the Marsh. Bring your own kayak or
canoe and PFDs or rent from the Marsh. 4 single kayaks and 3 canoes along with PFDs are
available for a $10 rental fee (free to Friends of Collins Marsh members) for one-hour use.

Lunch time: Food will be for sale during the lunch time period. Enjoy a picnic overlooking the beautiful watershed. You can also choose to climb the tower and hike the trails!
